How I Think About Websites

How I Think About Websites

Clarity first.

Design second. Always.

These therapist website examples show what happens when messaging leads.

I don't touch design until the messaging is right. Most designers start with layout, colors, and templates, assuming the words will sort themselves out. They won't. Unclear messaging built into a beautiful site is still a site that doesn't convert. I solve the real problem first.

Therapists are trained to communicate in clinical language. That training creates real gaps when it comes to client-facing copy. A general copywriter can polish sentences. What they can't do is understand the ethics, the hesitations, the nuance of how a therapist describes her work, and translate that into language that makes the right client feel immediately understood. That's the work I do.

Every site you're about to see was built the same way: strategy first, then copy, then design. Look for the specificity. Look for the language that sounds like a real therapist talking to a real person. That's not an accident. That's the method.

Where She Started: Shannon was building her private practice and knew the kind of therapy she wanted to offer, but needed help getting clear on who she served and how to say it in a way that would attract the right clients. Her brand voice wasn't yet defined, and her website needed to reflect the depth and specificity of her approach.

The Approach: Using the Done-For-You process, we worked through her ideal client, her therapy style, and the specific language that would make the right person feel immediately understood. The site was built to position her as the experienced, trauma-informed therapist she is, with copy that speaks directly to the clients she most wants to reach.

Result: Launched with a clear brand voice and a website that speaks directly to her ideal client, introducing them to a kind of therapy they didn't know existed.

What Shannon had to say about the process: “Thank you again for everything. I shared my website with my group and immediately got feedback that it sounds so much like me! I’m really excited about how it turned out and so grateful for your work.” Shannon Charles, LCSW

Where She Started: Dolevera was launching a coaching practice and knew what she wanted to offer, but couldn't organize her thoughts into clear, cohesive messaging. Without a central hub that reflected her brand, her expertise and credibility weren't visible to the women she most wanted to reach.

The Approach: Using the Done-For-You process, we worked through who she serves, what transformation her coaching provides, and what her brand voice actually sounds like. The strategy session surfaced her vision clearly, and the site was built to position her as the credible, experienced coach she already was.

Results: Launched with a clear brand presence and a professional hub for her offerings. Dolevera has since reported an increase in clients and a more streamlined marketing and onboarding process.

What Vera had to say about the process: "Chrystal caught my vision from the very beginning. She asked the right questions, understood exactly what I was trying to build, and brought my brand and personality to life on the site. I'd recommend her to anyone who wants a website that actually attracts the right clients." Dolevera Robinson

Where He Started: Kris is a licensed therapist building a coaching program specifically for men, a population that is often hesitant to seek traditional therapy. He needed a site with clean, specific branding and copy that would speak directly to his ideal client without feeling clinical, and a framework that would make his coaching feel approachable and relevant to the men he wanted to reach.

The Approach: Using the Done-For-You process, we built his brand and site around a sports-framed methodology that meets men where they are. Every copy and design decision was made with his ideal client in mind, making the coaching feel accessible, practical, and worth engaging with without losing the clinical credibility behind it.

Result: Launched with a high-quality, client-specific site that positions his coaching program as a credible, approachable option for men who wouldn't walk through a traditional therapy door.

What Kris had to say about the process: "Working with Chrystal was amazing. I felt heard throughout the entire process, and the communication was open and easy. I'm very pleased with my website and brand. I'd highly recommend Chrystal to any therapist or small business owner who wants a high-quality site and someone who's accessible and genuinely invested in bringing your vision to life." Kris Snyder
